Savvy Traveler: How to Get through the Airport in Style

Savvy Traveler: How to Get through the Airport in Style

When it comes to traveling, the one thing that most people dread most is going through the various airport security and counter check-ins. But it doesn’t have to be such a pain. So long as you prepare in advance and stick to plain manners and fashion you should hopefully be able to get through with no problems at all. We’re going to provide a few helpful hints that you can use to make your next trip go smoothly.

First off, you want to make sure to be adequately prepared and organized. This sounds like a pretty obvious hint, but it is surprisingly how much a sloppy packing job can cause problems when going through security. If you pack neatly and leave larger items (such as laptops) in an easily accessible area, it can save a lot of aggravation for both yourself and the TSA screeners.

Since many airlines are charging for check-in luggage, it’s always tempting to travel with just carry-on luggage, such as backpacks and briefcases, as this saves both time and money. But just make sure to know what you can and cannot place in carry-on luggage. Sporting goods and tools need to be checked in, as do knives, scissors, and other sharp utensils. Most significantly, make sure that all liquid and gel containers are less than 4 ounces. This can cause problems with a lot of toiletries, and I’ve certainly the past have had to be held up for carrying on a full-sized shampoo bottle or water bottle, which can be quite the hassle for yourself, the TSA employee, as well as the people waiting behind you! Fortunately most pharmacies offer toiletries in airline-approved sizes, as to airport shops (although they’ll charge you an arm and a leg).

Believe it or not what you wear can also make a difference when it comes to airport travelling. In this case, the key is to dress smart, but simple. The fact of the matter is, you are more likely to be randomly screened if you are wearing flashy clothing or clothing that someone might deem offensive, and the same can be true if you look like a slob. Dressing simply and neatly will solve this problem and will also enable you to travel more comfortably as well.

Along with the limitations on liquid and gel containers, the other big post-9/11 security change is that all passengers are required to take their shoes off when going though checkout. So it’s best to opt for flip-flops, slippers, boat shoes, loafers, or any type of footwear that is easy to remove and put back on. You certainly don’t want to be that guy holding up the screening line because you are wearing boots or other footwear that’s hard to take off! Similarly, make sure not to wear excessive jewelry or earrings, as these will have to be taken off for screening as well.

Above all, the important thing is to remain calm at all times; this is the true hallmark of a savvy traveler. Sometimes you might find yourself stuck with unforeseen delays and complications, even if you arrive early and have everything organized. Maintaining your cool, having a polite veneer, and following the golden rule will make travelling less stressful, for both yourself and your fellow travelers.

Man Fashion: Is Fedora Hat In or Out?

Is fedora hat in or out? Most of you might want to know and wondering? To me the answer is very simple, any fashion accessory that create style and fashion, will definitely be in.

Let me briefly share some historical background of fedora hat. A fedora is a soft felt hat that is creased lengthwise down the crown and pinched in the front on both sides. The term fedora was in use as early as 1891. Originally a women's fashion into the 20th century, the fedora came into use in about 1920, as a men's upper-class clothing accessory. Its popularity soared, and eventually it eclipsed the similar-looking Homburg by the 1930s. Fedoras can be found in nearly any color imaginable, but black, grey, tan, brown, and red are the most popular.

Fedora Hats
Although the fedora became popular 30 years after the cowboy era (1865-1890), the use of fedoras is common in most TV/movie westerns. The fedora is widely recognized with the characters of The Blues Brothers, Indiana Jones, and Freddy Krueger. The fedora is closely associated with film noir characters.

Fedora Hats
If you are still not convince, just look at the recent 2009 Spring/Summer collection put up by various fashion designers, you will have the answer.

Dior annouced at BASELWORLD with its new collection of male Chiffre Rouge, developed for diving.

Dior Chiffre Rouge D01
Chiffre Rouge watch - D01 has an articulated arm for the protection of the steel threaded crown - renewing the principle of asymmetry in the collection.

D01 has automatic Swiss ETA movements, which can be seen through the transparent caseback in dyed sapphire crystal.

Dior Chiffre Rouge D01
The case is 42 mm in diameter, 46 mm with the articulated arm. It is water resistant up to 300 meters.

You could argue that the Chiffre Rouge is a modern classic and not to be messed with. But I liked the oversize Arabic numerals. Of course, get one if you have spare cash.

Man Fashion: Dress Suits in Style

Dress suits have been discussed in many ways here. Even then, there are still many areas that I have yet to explore. So today, I will touch on the fundamental of dress suit, such as fitness, color and style.

Dress suits are the backbone of a mans wardrobe. They can be worn all year round for any kind of event, from the stiff and formal to ultra casual. With so many types of suits to choose from, it may be hard to figure out which style, color or even fabric is right for you. We will look at different ways to wear a suit and the proper venue for each one.

Mens Dress Suit
There are many things to consider when choosing a suit. Perfect fit is the most important factor, followed by color and style. Begin by learning the differences in suits. There are various styles and materials depending on whether it is a summer or winter suit. Being able to tell them apart will help you make the right choices so that you look appropriate wherever you are. Thankfully, wearing the proper suit for the proper occasion doesn't necessarily mean you have to sacrifice personal style or individuality. You can appear consistently stylish at any given moment by following a few simple rules.

The Tailored Suit
Some occasions require professionalism and/or formality. In situations where nothing else will do, a tailored suit is essential. The custom fit will give you an air of sophistication that you may not achieve with other formal wear. It is important to make sure the jacket and the trousers are the proper length, as well as the fit through the shoulders. Stay away from shoulder pads unless you want to look like you just stepped out of a 1980s film. The finest (and most expensive) suits are made of wool, so if money is no object, that is the avenue for you.

Mens Dress Suit
The Suit And Denim
Mixing a smart jacket with denim offers a classic yet relaxed look and is a great way to look suave yet classy. This is also a terrific way to express your personality without completely losing the formal look. You can try an ultra traditional Mayfair morning jacket made of natural and pure new wool and pair it with denim pants. For a perfect look, pair this ensemble with a stylish pair of boots. It is an effortless way to look your best and is great for the casual setting.

The Suit And Color
Many men feel they are trapped by the same black and navy suits. Do not be afraid of finding a suit with great color and contemporary flair. While a great pinstripe suit is the uniform of a good businessman, color can be used in a more fun, laid back way. The modern suit has greatly evolved from boring black into multiple colors and styles. Look for suits that have a bright colorful lining or a design on the jacket. White or beige suits can look great in the summer for just about any special occasion.

The most important thing to keep in mind when trying to find a balance between fun and function with your suits is experimentation. You will figure out what is right for you by trying on different combination to see how they look. Keep in mind the function you are attending and dress accordingly. Remember, the sky is the limit in the choices, colors and styles that you can choose from so do not restrict yourself. Breaking tradition and step out in style will help you express your individuality like nothing else can!

Man Fashion: Beach Styles

It has been so long since we have sunny weather I thought that myself might have forgotten how to dress in the summer sun, how about you? So try these tips in preparation for this coming bank holiday and hopefully sunny weather!

Bathers always look their best on a tanned body, so at the start of summer, apply a fake tan so you don't spend your first few days of summer with your pale skin glowing on the beach.

Mens Beachwear styles
Find out more on How To Apply Fake Tan

Speedos vs. Board Shorts
There are no hard and fast rules here as to which you should wear. Speedos suit a man with an athletic figure who is not shy. Board shorts suit a greater variety of figures and hide a multitude of sins! You know what I mean! :p

Burning is not handsome
In today's climate, sunbaking can be detrimental to both your skin and health if not done wisely. If you are going to be spending time in the sun, always wear sunscreen. Have a tan pre-applied if you want to appear tanned instantly without the threat of skin cancer.

Sunglasses
You can't go to a beach without a pair of cool sunglasses. Check out shade station for the coolest surfer shades. Try styles like A Wire and Square Wire as they suit different face shapes.

Mens Beachwear styles
Beach Towel
Impress others with a game of Twister, on a towel! (I'm impressed!) You can easily find out some interesting towel online where you can also customise your own!

Flip Flops No surfer dude look is complete without a pair of flip-flops. All the cool celebs are wearing them! Reef have custom designed flip flops for the gadget lovers out there.

Swimwear As far as men’s swimwear goes, swim trunks are the most basic sort of swimwear. This does not mean that swim trunks are not great men’s swimwear. Men of any age can wear swim trunks, from young boys to old men. Swim trunks are great because they usually have a lining so that they are very comfortable and less revealing.

Man Fashion: 2009 Spring/Summer Top Pick Accessories

Accessories for women can be both tiny or massive and they can complement the attire or distract viewers attention from it.

When we talk about men accessories it is quite clear that they should just complement the whole image adding sophistication, chic and elegance.

For example, a belt of high quality can be enough to create a good look. But the watch richly encrusted with diamonds will hardly be in place.

2009 Mens Accessories
Men Belt is going to be a hot trend for the warm season and it will be worn not just the way we are used to see it but over the trenches, cardigans or any other clothing item. It can match the color of the garments or go in contrast with it.Panamas will become 100% popular as well as wide-brimmed hats in Latino style. They will serve both as a practical headpiece and a part of your image.
2009 Mens Accessories
Sunglasses are a must in spring and summer. No matter which style of sunglasses you prefer youll look stylish and hot when wearing them.

2009 Mens Accessories
The most popular design for this season is a la Jack Nicholsons sunglasses with grey matted lenses as well as horn-rimmed and multicolored-rimmed sunglasses.

The fact mens fashion gets closer to the womens one is not new and accessories such as mens shawls and decorative beads, which were chosen by many designers for the forthcoming seasons, just prove that once again.

Green Evolution Car: Toyota Prius in Detroit Show

Another green evolution effort by automakers. TOYOTA launched its new Prius at the Detroit show, just as sale of the hybrid have been hit in the US in the face of falling petrol prices.

The new model will have to rekindle interest in Toyota's iconic hybrid, sales of which dropped by 48% in November 2008 compared to November '07. Lighter, more powerful and more economical than the current model, it also face competition from the cheaper Honda Insight.

green evolution
This Prius's design is a sharper version of the current model, with a sleeker, more integrated look; it retains the high rear boot line for optimum airflow over the car. The new Prius has a drag coefficient of 0.25, making it one of only two cars (along with the new Mercedes E-Class) to manage such a low figure. It is slightly longer than the current car.
green evolution
Underneath is an all-new platform that will be used by Lexus as the basis for its new HS250 hybrid. The 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine has grown in size to 1.8 litres, but Toyota claiming "significant reduction in weight".

The new Hybrid Synergy Drive system, Toyota's name for the electric motor setup, is smaller and lighter than in the current Prius, while the car incorporates aluminum and more high-tensile steel in its construction.

Inside, the car keeps the current Prius's layout, with the main instruments contained within a narrow, centrally mounted digital display. A button on the centre console, which is an Auris-style 'floating' unit allows the car to run on electric power only, allowing the driver to isolate the engine from the powertrain.

Head room is improved and the Prius gains boot space, thanks to the smaller battery pack, which is mounted under the boot floor.

When the car goes on sale in the UK this summer, expect prices to be similar to today's EURO17.777.

Man Fashion: Waist Bags for 2009 Spring & Summer

I have not discussed much about waist bags so far. It does not really mean I'm not a fan of waist bag. Just I don't find one that suit me. Having said that, Jil Sander has released their latest waist bags featured in 2009 Spring/Summer Collection really caught my attention, not only for style and design, but also functionality.
Man Fashion Waist Bags
Really, I would think this one is not exactly a waist pouch, but a belt with three spacious pockets. Available in two colors – blue and white, it is a perfect, utility accessory for a picnic, a safari or even a night out, what do you think?

You can find out more from Jil Sander.

The Newest Offerings from Men’s Jewelry Designers

Fashionable men around the world are now sporting the latest trends from men’s jewelry designers, which is actually something quite unusual. Over the past few decades, men’s fashion did not have much room for jewelry. Certainly there was a great deal of “bling” in such worlds as the hip-hop music industry, but until only recently jewelry designers did not add much to the mainstream of men’s fashion.

Jewelry Designers
Now it is not unusual for a popular men’s jewelry designer to create a line with rings, necklaces, ear studs, watches and bracelets all specifically created for men to wear. Consider global soccer star David Beckham. In February of 2009 he made several public appearances dressed in the incredibly stylish manner for which he is well-known, but he also sported a diamond encrusted watch and a huge diamond ear stud in each year. He is a man who definitely sets trends in fashion, and clearly this is spilling over into jewelry as well. Interestingly, Beckham even makes a habit of wearing lots of diamonds to the beach and casual affairs, though these tend to be a more traditional sort of “bling” jewelry including heavy pendants in shapes such as crosses and charms.

In response to Beckham’s fashion forward thinking, many men’s jewelry designers are now offering enormous diamond crosses on heavy chains entirely encrusted with diamonds as well. There are also huge diamond ear studs marketed strictly to male wearers and there are, of course, heavy diamond bracelets and watches.

Beckham isn’t the only fashionable male to inspire jewelry designers however, and such unique celebrities as Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake also initiate trends by opting to wear an interesting piece of jewelry by a designer they happen to like. Consider the many varieties of “dog tags” that have been appearing in department stores and high-end jewelry shops since Timberlake began wearing them around 2007. While he often pairs them with heavier chains and other pendants, many men’s jewelry designers create simple pieces that can be worn on a daily basis by fashion conscious men around the world.

Man Fashion: What is Newsboy Caps?

Whether you are looking for a Sixpence in Norway, a Cheese-cutter in New Zealand and Canada, a Dai cap in Wales, or a Scally cap in North America, what you are really looking for is a flat cap, or a newsboy cap. Other names that have been attributed to newsboy caps include: bunnet, derby, driving cap, Gatsby cap, Golf cap, Hogans cap, Ivy Cap, Scone bunnet, and a Windsor cap. Regardless of the name, however, the basic shape and style of the newsboy cap is the same. Newsboy caps A newsboy cap is a flat, gently rounded cap. It has a small brim in the front with a stiffer peak in the back. Usually the material used to construct a newsboy cap is tweed or wool, but they have often been made of leather, vinyl and suede as well. Newsboy caps The style of the newsboy cap has been dated as far back as the 14th Century in England where it was often worn by working class men. The style eventually became considered to be casual country wear that was worn by wealthy English men during leisure activities which led to the cap being known as a gold cap. Newsboy caps Till today, the newsboy caps are still popular and seen being worn by a list celebrities .
